The Flourish consortium consists of seven highly qualified partners which cover the entire spectrum of know-how necessary to carry out the project. They belong to the technological leaders in their corresponding domains.

Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Zurich - Autonomous Systems Lab

Consistently ranked among the top universities in the world, ETH Zurich is an academic institution with excellent track record of research and teaching since 1885. The university is associated with 21 Nobel Laureates who have studied, taught or conducted research there. The Autonomous Systems Lab (ASL) of ETH Zurich, is internationally renowned in the field of autonomous robot design and navigation with great experience in design and navigation of wheeled, legged and flying robots operating in different types of environments. With involvement in several National, European and ESA projects together with both academic and industrial partners, the lab currently hosts more than 50 researchers and application engineers. Research achievements in the lab have been commercialized by realizing seven spin-off companies since its foundation.

Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Zurich - Crop Science Lab

The crop science lab is known for its expertise in phenotyping and remote sensing of crops. They are hosting the world first rope camera phenotyping system FIP (link?) which will help to derive high resolution ground truth data of crops in field situations for the flourish project. They are member of state of the art research projects related to remote sensing and non-destructive detection of plant traits such as the Swiss Earth Observatory Network (SEON) and EURoot.

Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms Universität Bonn - Department for Photogrammetry

The department for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing at UBN is part of the Faculty for Agriculture and the Institute for Geodesy and Geoinformation. Traditionally, the lab focusses on the interpretation of image data, especially the geometric reconstruction and the semantic interpretation of the observed scene. In the past, the faculty has been involved in and has bee leading different crop sensing projects including CROP.SENSe.net funded by the German Ministry of Research and Education as well as by the EC. The faculty of agriculture has an own farm located near Bonn called Klein-Altendorf for large scale experiments. Klein Altendorf has a size of 180 ha, i.e. 1,800,000 m2, which allows for performing real world test within Flourish.

Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg - Autonomous Intelligent Systems Lab

The Autonomous Intelligent Systems (AIS) lab of the University of Freiburg is concerned with techniques for autonomous navigation, state estimation and motion control in the context of mobile robotics and artificial intelligence. One of the major research areas covered by this lab is mobile robot navigation and in the past, members of the AIS lab have contributed several innovative algorithms for this area. This includes techniques for autonomous exploration, learning two- and three-dimensional maps, vision-based localization, outdoor-navigation with rovers and mapping with helicopters and the deployment of interactive robots in trade shows and museums. The AIS lab has almost 30 members. It participates in various national and international projects including a transregional research center on spatial cognition and a research training group on embedded microsystems, as well as several European Projects. The AIS lab also heads the German cluster of excellence BrainLinks—BrainTools.

In this way, the company offers technology worldwide that is "Invented for life". The department CR/AEG of the Corporate Sector Research and Advance Engineering is engaged with future systems for Bosch consumer goods divisions, particularly for PowerTools. Some of the main activities are dealing with autonomous and assistance systems.

Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique - Dream lab

As the result of a strategic alliance between the Georgia Institute of Technology (GIT) and the French Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), a joint GIT/CNRS research laboratory, the GT- CNRS UMI 2958, was established at the GeorgiaTech Lorraine campus in Metz, France, in March of 2006. So far, the laboratory has been conducting a unique transatlantic collaborative program of research in secure networks and smart materials. Research faculty and graduate students from GIT, French universities, and other CNRS laboratories work on joint research projects sponsored by industry and by local and national governments. The founding associate partners in this unique laboratory are the University of Metz, the University of Franche-Comté, the École Nationale Supérieure d’Arts et Métiers (ENSAM), and L’École Supérieure d’Électricité (Supélec).

Sapienza Università di Roma - Lab for Cooperative Cognitive Robots

Sapienza Università di Roma is one of the largest and oldest Universities of Italy and Europe. The Department of Computer and System Sciences “Antonio Ruberti” (DIS) (www.dis.uniroma1.it) includes about 65 faculty members (full, associate and assistant professors). Internationally renowned research groups in computer science, system science and management science are active at DIS. Basic research is its main goal, with a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary research, on applications that stimulate basic research and on technology transfer and dissemination of results. Every year DIS publishes hundreds of papers in the foremost international journals and conference proceedings and its members appear in the program and steering committees of the most prestigious scientific events and institutions.
